Week 1 - Thursday 2nd October

Today was our first lesson on the starting of our practical brief. Before we started to think of ideas in our groups to fufil the brief, we looked at the top 5 important rules of filming. These were:
1) Always put the camera on the tripod for steadiness
2) Use the 180 degree rule
3) Make sure the camera is in focus
4) Use a 3 second count down before starting filming
5) Always rewind and check over your filming

These rules need to be taken into consideration in order to make our production of high standards and realistic.

Mrs Alison arranged groups for us; I am working with Sophie Smurthwaite and Tom Tilbey which I am happy with because I feel we all have good ideas, and work well as a team. Once we had looked at each others homework of draft storyboards, we talked about each one and looked at the negatives and positives, so after alot of discussions on them, we finally agreed to mix our ideas of storylines, shots and angles so we had a combination of everyones ideas.

We found it quite difficult to get the shots and continuity correct, so we spent alot of time and put alot of thought into each shot to make sure it was going to be perfect when we filmed it. We drew out the new ideas on a storyboard and filmed an animatic; taping the pictures on the storyboard with audio and the correct timings. This helped us to imagine what the practical will be like when we come around to filming.
